View Full Version : Killer Tactics Still Possible, BGS?

Well, can you please tell us if they are possible, BGS staff? I'm trying so hard to create one, but have found far less success than usual. I've had a few matches 7,8,9,10 goals but it's rare.

My theory so far is that you cannot do it because of all the player tendencies. In fact, I'm having 40 shots a game sometimes, 20 on target, but only 2 goals etc. so perhaps the developers have made some sort of barrier so your probability of scoring an on target shot against a good team is lowered.

Perhaps it's just a harder game this time round so it takes more time.

Because the AI changes it's tactics depending on how the match is progressing I think you will find it tough coming up with one tactic that will work everytime. Hopefully not.

The way the match engine has been tweaked this year is intended to portray realistic scorelines.

It really is a combination of good players and good tactics this year, rather than simply a super tactic like last year.

You are very unlikely to see teams like Wigan or Fulham winning the Premiership in this version....well at least not in the first 5 years.

It is the same thing happens to me, i'm having 22 shots in one game, 18 of that on target, played against Man Utd...they had just 3 shots, and each one was on the target and i lose the game 2-3...unbelievable...

But do it right now, with maximum 3 strikers in the formation... ;)

Maybe you can create a tactic to combat any change in the opposition's tactics whatsoever, like having two target players who work as a unit so they can't be stopped.

P.S. thanks for the reply

Should be very smart, but you should then start new campaign every day to make several tactics for each game...that takes really more time then to struggle to beat somebody in the game...and tactics should called AgainstManUtd.tac, AgainstRealM.tac...and so on :p

They are impossible. You play just as well as you did in cm2007 with the same tactic, but the number of goals is just lower; this even causes your player ratings to go down.

I think killer Tactics should be brought back, it's more interesting for someone who enjoys creating tactics, like me.

I agree with sameerf.

O.k. I have been playing this game for years and I have been playing this demo since it came out and its time I had a moan.

Lets be honest guys (and girls?). Although there is a lot of talk of making the game "realistic" (whatever that may mean) the reality is that most of us play this game for fun and to see our favourite team win everything. I know this does not apply to everyone, so please don't bother posting just to say this doesn't apply to you.

Discovering good tactics and building a great team is what makes us keep coming back for more. There is clearly an issue finding some decent tactics now and we are having so much trouble selling players it is very difficult building a great team.

Unfortunately this demo is really dull so far and really really slow when churning data and I am struggling to think why I would buy the full game. Lets hope someone discovers some good tactics and ace players soon (and the problem selling players is sorted in the first patch).

There I feel a little better. Thank you for listening.

Well said, although its still better than FM this year. Perhaps there should be an option at the beginning before you start a new career, asking about some sort of "unrealistic" and "realistic" modes.

I have realised something. My tactic converted from CM2007 works as a killer tactic right up to half time, then in the 2nd half i don't score any, sometimes one. maybe if you change to a different super tactic after 45 minutes it will work

It's simply impossible. Because i've beated Chelsea 4-0 and then lost 0-2 to Reading. With my own tactic, with same eleven like against Chelsea, of course! If that's realistic scoreline? I dont think so! Maybe it's more likely i will play 1-1, 1-0, or 0-0 against Chelsea, but beat them 4-0 and then lost such a ridicoulos game, that "realistic" it is now something we can't and shouldn't accept! cheers :D

it's quite frustrating, I'm playing as Braintree town, and I can't see a real way for me to escape the conferance south as I only have enough players to fit certain roles, so I can't just have any tactic and have the right players to play in it. This means I'm just struggling mid-table and losing half of my games because I can't find a decent tactic with my players

Not sure I understand the mentality re this "killer" tactic. A killer tactic whereby you win everything and by heaps of goals is deadly dull.

This version of CM is the best so far, it is harder, has more to think about re your overall strategy, tactics and formations need to be tweaked and so on.

Don't get me wrong I like to play around with tactics using the basic 442 and tweaking to see if there's a winning formula.

Though building a set of tactics that work re home/away defensive minded/attack minded/normal is part of the joy of footie managers games.

Each to his own but having a killer tactic is like having a cheat on say DOOM whereby you are in God mode...takes the fun/skill and enjoyment out of the game for me.

That said i have created a 442 tactic that can be tweaked re home/away and what type of opposition your playing e.g. MAN U or derby and it appears to be working, 3rd in Premier after 8 games 5wins 3 draws.

Anyway guys the thread is good as it does throw out differing ideas.
