We're planning to release in April (which will have up to date information) and then release a data update shortly after the summer window closes. So September/October 2009 you'll have fresh data again :)

So, CM09 will be released in April next year, 4 months after the January transfer window, 2 months before the summer transfer window, and we will be getting an update for the summer transfer window. So when is CM10 coming out? Or is it even coming out since we're already have the latest transfers?
Well then I have a suggestion. Why not release a patch (update) after every transfer window? When a new match engine or what-not is produced, release it as a new CM version in the following year, like WoW.

Im quite suprised by the Release date of this Game, and i cant see the thinking behind it.

Why cant we have an update for CM08 now and then the new game in july 2009.
oh by the way i dont play CM in the summer but during those long winter evenings/nights.
So all i can say is sack the marketing manager, who for me has never played CM.
Please give us an update for CM08. You can do it if you sack the marketing team and get more computer programers.
Think long term if the game comes out lets say every september its perfect for every body the real season starts and we all start how real can that be.

iv got to be honest the april release date has suprised me mind. TBH i think the release date should be shortly after the transfer window but hey that is me, only downside for me cm being delayed to april the season is near enough over. but with BGS working this long on it it will have to be one hell of a game,

This 10 year old kids just dont get it, its a very smart idea from them.
The game to become better it has to be radically changed, and thats whats happening, and they need time for it.

The next versions will just be some new features and the data update, every season, in the normal time september to november.

Thats what im thinking, the 2nd paragraph might be wrong, but its just a guess.

Before you start complaining about the date wonder why they did this, its not cuz they are on vacation until next year or they do that for fun, its their work and their business..

Let them work cuz they're doing a great job!

Well said that CM Fever man, as I put in another post to be honest with you all, I think this is a very smart move by BGS and should be applauded!

Yes FM come out next month, but many people have already discussed the differences in previous versions (don't know about this one unless the people with crystal balls have been working overtime again!) between FM and CM and its playability, so people will either love it or hate - no difference there then!

There is a very high chance that by next April people will be sick of FM and may want the challene of a new game = CM. This, tactically, is a good move for CM as it expands their game appeal to a wider market and stops the age old problem of going head to head against a rival that also has a high fan base.

Personally I would rather offer my game to Market X and not X-Y when another game of the same type is released at the same time - makes fair more sense to stagger the release time and open the market up.

Also, like others have posted - I also want my game perfect from the box not dependent on patch after patch to get it to work properly, so if this takes extra time then so be it!

Don't forget as well that March/April marks the beginning of the end for the football season and people will be suffering withdrawal symptons from it and hey preston - a recognised game appears on the market - sounds like savy planning to me!

Anyway - can't wait for the finished version, the screenshots look fantastic - Kudos to the team and keep it going. The chance to play the home nations is also a masterstroke!

Gud point. If they start the league in aug 08 but you get jan09 transfers already done its going to look stupid. If when the game comes out and you can only start it in january 09 that will be even more dumb. Again i quote april isnt the right time to get this game out! i really would consider just waiting until october next yr and bringing cm10 out. The reason i say that is there is a long wait now until this game comes out and if its not all great then i feel CM will loose a poo load of its fans. i think a few more screen shots are needed to prove its all that and more and the demo should be out sooner.

Come on bgs stop keeping us fans in the dark and get some more info out.

And again i have read the posts by a hell of alot of ppl who found it hard to download the editor, So do u really feel that this will be any easyer just because its coming of the cm website? Fozzy did a top job with that editor yet still it wasnt all easy to download for about a quarter of the fans! so whats the chances that this wil be so easy? All BGS had to do was create a great game in the time they had WITH an editor (but dont get me wrong fozzys was top) and get it out b4 xmas. We as fans then could do the editing ourselfs for the january window.

True, but it would be tricky. I understand the point you are making but like I said it would be tough to get such things to implement. I wouldn't say it's impossible, but at the same time the only thing the makers can sort of control is the players at the clubs at the start of the game. And since their releasing the game in April 09, I should think they'd just include the transfers of Jan 09 too.

If you played FM, wouldn't you update your game with the new data after the january transfer window? And, alas, you'd have to start a brand new game. Just like as if you got CM in April. Then when the mid-year transfer window closed and we get an option to download the new data with CM you can choose NOT to download and play with the data of last season. Is that so hard?

That ain't a bad idea. I don't know if they'd be willing to do so though.

Again sorry that that message has just come up Again!! First of all i have never played FM as my mate said it was crap. Ur right when u say if i edited the data myself then when i start a new season the player transfers would be there 4 aug but what i also said is why not bring in a contract start date?? If u start a contract in january 09 then the players wouldnt be at the wrong clubs in aug and i know it can be done as it already has been in a previous version of CM when the editor was once on the game.. So really its not so hard and can be done. if you have been a CM user for somtime then u should already know this!

And b4 we get into a debate over the editor being on the game it was in Championship Manager: Season 00/01. You had contract start date and you could edit leagues and all sorts. I remember the 1st game in 1993 so believe me i have seen it all with this game and have no complaints about any of them. I know it can be done as it already has which means it shouldnt be to hard to do again. If the transfers are already done when the game comes out then thats fine but all i ment was it would be seen as unrealistic to have the jan transfers already there in aug.
